Lt-Gen Ye Myint inspects physic nut plantations, road and bridge construction, overflowing wells in Ayadaw Township
Overflowing wells contribute to rural water supply
YANGON, 6 March — Member of State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Ye Myint of the Ministry of Defence arrived at the construction site of the Union Highway, a road section between Monywa Home for the Aged and Kyweyan Junction.
At the briefing hall, Director U Khin Maung Swe reported on construction progress of the road, building of two bridges out of the five and plans to tar the road. Sagaing Division PDC Chairman North West Command Commander Maj-Gen Tha Aye gave a supplementary report. Next, Lt-Gen Ye Myint inspected tarring of road section between Station Road and Kyaukka Road in Monywa on the Union Highway. Lt-Gen Ye Myint and party went to the physic nut plantation in Ayadaw township where Township PDC Chairman U Mya Ngwe reported on growing of 8,400 physic nut plants on 5-acre land. Lt-Gen Ye Myint viewed the thriving plantation.
On arrival at Ayadaw Station, Lt-Gen Ye Myint heard reports by Lt-Col Aung Min on growing of 50 acres of physic nut grafts and nurturing of one acre of physic nut nurseries and collecting of 100,000 grafts and 153,000 seeds. He then gave necessary instructions and inspected the plantations. Lt-Gen Ye Myint and party inspected a two-inch overflowing well with a capacity of 1800 gallons of water per hour in Ayadaw Station, overflowing well No 2 with a capacity of 4,300 gallons of water per hour in Myenat village-tract and storage of water, cordially greeted local people and gave instructions on efficient use of water.
Afterwards, Lt-Gen Ye Myint and party visited the physic nut nursery owned by departments in Myenat village and cordially greeted local people. They also inspected overflowing well No 1 with a capacity of 22,500 gallons of water per hour in Myenat village-tract. At the briefing hall, Director U Hla Min of Sagaing Division Water Resources Utilization Department reported on undertaking of eight overflowing wells and plans to do more. The commander gave a supplementary report. Lt-Gen Ye Myint instructed farmers to carry out water supply tasks for crops cultivation.
Lt-Gen Ye Myint and party next visited overflowing well No 3 with a capacity of 21,000 gallons of water per hour and inspected storage of water. He urged local farmers to grow physic nut plants with water from the well.
Lt-Gen Ye Myint proceeded to Thamayo Bridge linking Ayadaw Township in Monywa District and Wetlet Township in Shwebo District. He called for proper maintenance of the bridge and left necessary instructions. He also looked into construction of a road linking Sagaing District and Shwebo District, condition of the bridges on Sagaing-Kyaukmyaung road. On arrival at the briefing hall in Sheinmaka village in Wetlet Township, Lt-Gen Ye Myint heard reports by Road Construction In-charge Lt-Col Aung San on progress of the road section between Sagaing Junction and Kyaukmyaung. Lt-Gen Ye Myint gave necessary instructions to officials.
